Think and deliver differently: The power of audience

Audiences hold the key to the success or failure of a presentation. Paradoxically, the time invested in considering their needs and expectations is typically woefully short. Gut feel assumptions and stereotypes are often the order of the day, with presenters investing more time debating a slide design or choice of imagery than properly considering the most important stakeholder in any presentation: the audience.

The net result is a generic, unfocused presentation delivered to a disengaged audience by a frustrated presenter—the entire exercise becomes a huge waste of time for everyone involved. Using tools such as “audience heatmapping” and concepts like “the presentation landscape” and “blended presenting,” I’ll share insights into what makes a presentation truly powerful by putting the audience at the core of everything.
