Sarah McLaughlin, PMP, is an award-winning, dynamic, senior-level communication officer with sharp analytical and strategic planning skills, who cultivates and nurtures strong business relationships across complex constituencies. With more than fourteen years’ experience in project management and communications, she has developed an ability to instill confidence in others, remain calm under duress and persuade with diplomacy.

In June 2015, Sarah joined the New Orleans mayor’s office as the director of communications. Sarah is responsible for managing and directing the city’s internal and external communication strategies, serving as the key spokesperson and media contact, as well as leading her team through the development of initiatives that help to advance the city’s mission.

Prior to joining the City of New Orleans, Sarah was the senior vice president for Outreach Process Partners, an Annapolis, Maryland-based public relations firm where she oversaw outreach and business development for new and existing clients. Sarah designed, secured, developed and led a multi-million dollar public affairs support contract for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District that resulted in balanced international media coverage, effective and strategic partnerships and an improved client reputation. Sarah is the immediate past president of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) New Orleans Chapter and past chair for the 2016 IABC World Conference. She is also on the Board of Governors for Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans.
