AI: Friend, Foe or Sidekick?
11 June | 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM PT
Session Type: Interactive Workshop
Global Standard Focus: Technology
In a world where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is advancing rapidly, its role in our lives has sparked debate: is AI a friend, a foe, or a sidekick? This interactive presentation delves into these perspectives, examining AI as a supportive ally, a disruptive adversary, or a complementary tool to human abilities. As a friend, AI can enhance our lives by boosting productivity, streamlining tasks, and connecting us in new ways—bridging gaps across teams, industries, and cultures for more efficient collaboration. Yet, there’s a darker side: the foe. AI brings ethical and privacy concerns, sparking fears around job displacement, data misuse, bias and loss of control. Between these lies AI as a sidekick—an adaptable tool that assists rather than replaces, working alongside us to solve complex problems while leaving critical decisions in human hands. Attendees will engage in a collective sense-making activity that leverages Generative AI to tap into shared wisdom, lived experience and practical solutions on this topic. Participants will leave with an understanding of AI’s potential, how to mitigate its risks, and connect with AI as a sidekick.
Learning Objectives:
- Examine AI’s potential as both a supportive ally that enhances productivity and collaboration, and a disruptive force raising ethical and privacy concerns.
- Develop strategies for responsible AI sse while mitigating ethical, privacy, and security risks.
- Explore actionable insights on how to integrate AI as a supportive tool.
